My wide body turbo Exige

Attn Bilstein Track Pack owners/users - simple/odd tech question

$

I just purchased a set of Eibach springs (progressive rates from the Bilstein track pack set up). They will be fitted to an old set of Sachs single adjustable dampers that I've had lying around that had absolutely useless springs (story for another time).

Before I install them, I'd like to get ball park settings for ride height (as opposed to constantly rejacking the car and fiddling with the perches).

If any of you...

1) have a set sitting on the shelf or
2) happen to have your car jacked up with the wheels off currently

...could I trouble you to measure the spring length UNLOADED both front and read?

Like I said, I just want to get it in the ballpark (I'm ultimately looking for 125mm front/130mm rear ride height, but I'll dial that in myself).

Thanks!

05 Graphite Gray Elise $26k

05 Graphite Gray Elise, 35k miles on the chassis, I bought this car from another LT member with the intentions of keeping it, I ended up with an Exige SC so it's up for sale. The car had a minor chip in the front clam that I have pictured, also had engine issues, we replaced the engine with a 19k mile engine from a car we owned, repainted the entire front clam, the car is very clean.

-Dunlop Star Specs with plenty of life left.
- Ferodo DS2500 brake pads and DBA 4000 Slotted Rotors all around within the last year
-Focal speakers in front and rear and new Alpine stereo last fall.
- iPhone and Pandora integration, BlueTooth. It sounds great.

$26k clean title and all damage is fixed as I painted the entire clam

thanks

Milwaukee Area Lotus Owners Unite!

$

Right now we have a pretty big group of owners in Milwaukee right now. I figured that it would be a good idea to get one big thread together so that we can:
1.) Get lurkers to join and say hi!
2.) Organize local drives this summer! Even last minute impromptu drives please!
3.) Find local events and things to do even non-car related!

Right now the Milwaukee crew is:
- JWA - Storm Titanium Cup 260 Exige
- Emlise - Chrome Orange Elise
- WhatsADSM - Saffron Yellow K-24 swapped Elise
- Lilotus - Chrome Orange Elise
- Driftwood - Storm Titanium Elise
- Afex - Magnetic Blue Elise
- Thomasio -well technically he doesn't have a Lotus right now, but owner / operator of RLS. Yes RLS is located in Oak Creek! - Had a Saffron Yellow Exige S
- Me! (surprising huh?) - Storm Titanium Exige S - See below.

Anyone else out there? There have been a bunch of sightings so hopefully we can see some new faces!

As far as events go I found a sweet calendar that has a pretty good list here.
Unfortunately there aren't many events in the area that aren't muscle car only. I tend to go to the Brew City Cruise night (Tuesday nights in Mequon) as they get some good variety.

To drive really fast we always have the Milwaukee area SCCA for autocross and track days. I know they are a very large and well organized chapter.
I'm thinking I will end up doing the autocross "test and tune" on June 15th because you can get a ton of runs in for cheap! However, it isn't a competitive event, but since my car wouldn't be competitive due to mods it is fine with me! I might try to do a track day later this summer too.

If you guys any other good events let us know!! Thomasio - RLS open house???? :D

Finally, I think we will need to plan to a drive or two to the Holy Hill area and possibly Door County... Among random impromptu drives of course! Thoughts?

So please, everyone, chime in and let us know you exist!

Here are a few pics of past drives and get-togethers!

i wired everything. My only problem is that it charges my iphone 5 (with an adapter), but nothing is coming out of the speakers when i select AUX. i tried AUX 1 and 2, nothing. It just says AUX on the display. What am i doing wrong?? Its charging so its compatible, but no music through speakers. Is there something i need to do after pressing source and going to AUX? i read the manual, no help. AUX 1 and 2 are on per the menu

BRAND NEW Hoosier H2.0 rain tires - 205/225

Hey all - Elige-sized rains for sale.

2 - 205/45-16 - $243 each new, will sell for $180/ea.
2 - 225/45-17 - $277 each new, will sell for $ $200/ea.

$650 for all four.

About 8 months old, they were mounted on wheels and have lived inside since. They're brand new, I've never even driven the car around on them.

Decided to go goof around on street tires instead of Hoosiers this year, so....yeah. Cheap way to get rains!

Tires are in Morrison, CO can deliver weekday mornings between Morrison and Longmont - Denver, Boulder, etc. Will ship, too.

These are the new H2.0, not the HWET. They are astounding in the rain - I've not driven THIS set, but I have driven Hoosier rains in the past, yow, they're physics-defying.

Impulse Buy

The other day while at Harbor Freight I came across a curious set of tools and bought them on impulse

Attachment 215282

Sort of like cheaply made, awkward, dental tools.

I've used them to spread, apply glue, loosen connections, scrape grease, chisel wood, poke holes; they've been very useful. Around $5; YMMV

Sector 111 battery bracket - $30

$

Greetings - I have a Sector111 battery bracket. Similar to:

Xtender for Lotus Elise & Exige

but does not have the switch. Just a chunk of aluminum to hold a smaller battery down.

$30 reasonable? It is in decent shape, needs a good cleaning. Pictures as-is included, will hit it with some scotchbrite or something, get the oxidation off.

Bracket is in Morrison, CO. It should fit in a USPS "if it fits it ships" box, so shipping would be $5 or so to the lower 48?

Let me know! I'm not going to use it, keep tripping over it, someone needs this!

Hey all thought i'd share. My driver side turn sgnal pop'd out today. It was not the clip but the fiberglass on the clam broke. Well i did not know what to do so i used my ingenuity, whats left of it. I cut a small piece of thermoplastc and heated it till translucent then molded it to the area of the break about 1 cm by 0.5 cm. let it cool and reinstalled light. It is perfect. Even if it was not perfect u could reheat and mold. Very happy now.

Another oil line option: no oil lines!

$
0
0
...or oil coolers.
Here's the thing, I don't think I'm going to be tracking this car for a while and on the street, I CAN NOT get the oil up to temp. usually 180 or so is the highest it gets. So as an experiment I'm gonna run with no cooling through the summer and monitor the temps. Allen @ VSA closed it off at the sandwich plate and plugged the engine end of the lines yesterday. I did a spirited run down Mullholand. lots of high rpm's and the temps were right around 220-230. It was a bit cool outside (mid 70's) so It'll be interesting to see what happens when the weather gets hotter. I'll keep ya posted.
Anybody else do this?

I nice looking 1985 380sl come up for sale. I know nothing about them. I am considering it as a daily driver. 180K New tires, radio, soft top & they are asking $6.8K I haven't determined if it has the double row timing change conversion.

Should I run away? What should I look for? Going prices?

First Track Day With the GT3

$

Had the GT3 out at Mission Raceway for the first time since I got it. Wow!! What a car. Great brakes, great handling, great engine. I was by no means pushing the limits, but everything about the car is intuitive and predictable. There was a guy there in a GT2 who managed to lose it around turn 9 and put it straight into a wall. Ouch! Saw an Elise there but didn't see it on the track (anyone on here?)

Here are a couple pics from the day.

Cheers,

Paul
